What To Know About Last-Minute Golf Break Deals In Faro

The Internet has made booking holidays so much easier. Interactive websites allow for enquiring about vacancies, flights and golf tee times, booking them there and then and receiving electronic mail confirmations by return. It is a whole new world from when you needed a local travel agent to make enquiries on your behalf. Short golf breaks have become very popular in recent years and one region that has benefitted enormously from that is the Algarve in Southern Portugal. Flight times from the regional airports of the UK are no more than 3 hours due south and at that latitude you can expect good weather almost all year round.

Faro

Faro is the capital and its airport has good transport connections to the major towns in the Algarve. That said, one of the best bases for a golf break in the Algarve is Faro itself. There are plenty of flights every day to and from Faro so Faro is extremely accessible, even at the last minute.

There is a well-established tourist infrastructure that include plenty of accommodation to meet most budgets. Faro is a lively area with plenty of entertainment when golfers are not on the courses themselves. However with so many courses to choose from there will always be available tee times at the last minute. If you just have a short break available then you can fly in the morning and play in the afternoon. You can see where times are available later that same day. Likewise if you can get an afternoon return flight then look for an early tee time on another course of your choice.

Courses to Consider

The first course to be built near Faro was Penina 50 years ago but since then there have been enough courses built to allow golfers to play locally on a different course each day for a month without playing any of them twice. Quinta do Lago North and South are others that have become popular with visitors. Sir Nick Faldo has designed a course close to Faro and other Oceanico courses are the Old, Millennium, Victoria and Laguna among others.

It is sometimes difficult to devote the time to making all the arrangements yourself. If you use a specialist who knows the region and its courses well then you may be able to get in touch, provide some parameters and get the whole thing arranged for you in no time at all.
